Celebrating 70 Years of Care and Commitment

As we joyfully mark our 70th anniversary, The Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge Long-Term Care Home of Ottawa (Hillel Lodge) proudly continues its tradition as a beloved cornerstone for the Jewish community.

Founded by passionate members of the Ottawa Jewish community—including the visionary Dora Lithwick and Judge J.C. Horwitz—Hillel Lodge began as a heartfelt initiative to create a welcoming home for Jewish elders. Their “labor of love” came to life on October 10, 1965, with the opening of our original building on Wurtemberg Street.

After several expansions, we found a new home in September 2000 at the Joseph and Inez Zelikovitz Long-Term Care Centre on the Jewish Community Campus. Our family grew even more on December 19, 2011, when we inaugurated the Joseph and Inez Zelikovitz Pavilion, increasing our capacity to 121 beds.

Hillel Lodge boasts a rich history rooted in the values of compassion and community care. Over the years, we have adapted to meet the evolving needs of our residents while steadfastly maintaining our commitment to personalized care.

Today, Hillel Lodge stands as a cherished institution, embodying the spirit of family and nurturing meaningful connections among residents, staff, and the wider community.
