What Will Your Legacy Be?

When you think about the values that are important in your life and the ideals you wish to be remembered for, consider including The Hillel Lodge Foundation in your legacy.  Ensure those beliefs remain meaningful in the future.

Your future gift could have a lasting impact on the lives of people living at the Lodge, in perpetuity. Leaving a gift in your will to the Lodge makes you part of an exceptional community of donors funding compassionate support programs for everyone living at the Lodge.

If you’re considering a planned gift, you may wish to start by having a conversation with your family. Discussing your intentions with loved ones — and asking your lawyer about creating or updating your will — helps ensure your wishes are properly met and tailored to your specific situation.

Planned gifts to the Hillel Lodge Long-Term Care Foundation can be made directly, or through Life & Legacy, a North American initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Life & Legacy supports Jewish organizations in building a culture of thoughtful, after-lifetime giving, helping ensure the long-term strength and continuity of community-based care and services.

When you feel ready to explore your options, we’re here to help.

Leave a Legacy

Leave a legacy gift in your Will.

Most legacy gifts are bequests in someone’s Will. Usually, these gifts enable people to make a more substantial contribution than they could manage during their lifetimes. That means a gift in your Will would have a profound impact on the future of Hillel Lodge and those that we serve –your family members, Bubbies, Zaidies, friends, and neighbours.

Gifts made by Will are deemed to have been made in the year of death. Therefore, the estate receives the charitable tax credit that may offset any tax owing.

Benefits to you of naming The Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation in your Will:

  • Impact: Allows you to make a larger donation, making a meaningful impact - larger than would otherwise be possible during your lifetime.
  • Security: No immediate cost that affects your current lifestyle.
  • Satisfaction: Ensures that your wishes are fulfilled, reflecting your core values and commitments, and making a lasting difference.
  • Tax Benefits to You: A charitable tax receipt to your estate can significantly reduce or eliminate final income taxes. Helping to leave a gift for your family.
  • Peace of Mind: You can make changes to your Will at any time.
  • Inspiring others: Your gift may also inspire others to consider their own philanthropic goals. Maybe you'll inspire somebody to give back as well!

What to donate?

You can donate a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate after other specific bequests have been distributed and debts have been paid. You can also bequeath real property or appreciated stocks.
